Viral Video Ranking

According to GoViral, these are the top viral video campaigns of 2007:

  1. Cadbury – Gorilla Drummer, launched online in August; agency: Fallon.
  2. Smirnoff ??? Green Tea Partay, launched online in August; agency: JWT, New York.
  3. Ray-Ban – Catch Sunglasses, launched online in May; agency, Cutwater.
  4. Blendtec – Will it Blend? launched online in July.
  5. Lynx/Axe ??? Bom chicka wah wah, launched online in May; agency BBH, Copenhagen.

I’ve seen most of them and agree that they’re hilarious and worth passing around.  What’s interesting to me is that some agencies and brands opted for videos that look user-generated, while others (like the top-ranked Cadbury campaign) went for professionally produced versions.  I have no idea what the gorilla drummer has to do with chocolate or why I’d forward that one to anyone.  However, I’ve already talked about #2 and #4 (love them both) and will leave you with this video – maybe it will also leave you asking… how’d they do that?
